Job Profile As the successful CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator, you will play a key role within a small, skilled machining team. You’ll be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes to produce precision components from a range of metals to tight tolerances. This is an excellent opportunity for a CNC machinist looking to develop further — training will be provided on specific machine controls and tooling as long as you have prior CNC turning, programming, setting, and operating experience. Duties Program, set, and operate Fanuc-controlled Doosan CNC lathes Machine precision components to tight tolerances, ensuring consistent quality Work from engineering drawings to produce small batch and prototype parts Inspect finished components using appropriate measuring equipment Maintain tooling, fixtures, and machine setups for repeatability and efficiency Optimise machining parameters to reduce cycle times and improve tool life Contribute to process improvements and problem-solving within the machining department Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and to schedule Maintain a clean and organised workstation in line with 5S standards Skills & Attributes Proven experience in CNC Turning, Machining, Lathe Operation, or similar role Confident programming and setting on Fanuc controls Mill/Turn experience (Lathes with Milling capabilities) would be advantageous but training available Strong understanding of machining tolerances, materials, and tooling principles Capable of working independently or as part of a team High attention to detail and commitment to quality Positive attitude towards learning, development, and continuous improvement Education / Certificates NVQ or equivalent in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (desirable) Apprenticeship or formal training in CNC machining or precision engineering (advantageous) Hours of Work 40 hours per week over 4 days Flexible start times between 6:00am and 8:00am Choose Monday–Thursday, or Tuesday–Friday 10-hour shifts per day Hourly rate: £20.00 – £25.00 per hour depending on experience Health & Safety Work in accordance with all company safety standards and procedures Use PPE correctly and report any hazards or incidents immediately Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace Development Ongoing training on CNC controls, tooling, and machining methods Opportunities for progression into senior setter or programming roles Encouragement to participate in lean and continuous improvement initiatives Interested?
